Immerse Yourself in “Electric Idyll” by Pipolitti Rist

Prepare to lose yourself in Swiss artist Pipolitti Rist’s “Electric Idyll,” a hypnotic diorama that blurs the lines between the digital and physical worlds. Curated by Massimiliano Gioni, the exhibition showcases a blend of new works and Rist’s iconic pieces, including the award-winning film “Ever is Over All” from 1997.

A Multisensory Journey Through Nature, Gender, and Technology

Running until June 1, 2024, “Electric Idyll” offers visitors an exhilarating experience that explores themes of nature, gender, and technology. This marks the second major production of Rist’s work in Doha, following the success of “Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You” at the National Museum of Qatar.

An Immersive Total Installation

Gioni describes the exhibition as a total installation that envelops visitors in a world of videos, sounds, lights, furniture, and design. Unlike traditional surveys, “Electric Idyll” creates a space where works from different periods interact to form a cohesive and immersive experience.

Experience Rist’s Work Firsthand

Visitors are encouraged to interact with and inhabit the installations, making the exhibition come alive with their presence. Inside the Fire Station, guests gather on sofas and armchairs, engaging in lively conversations and forming connections through Rist’s captivating artwork.

Reflecting on Technology, Media, and Nature

Rist’s work prompts viewers to contemplate the impact of technology on our dreams and visions, while also fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the universe. By creating spaces that welcome the audience, Rist invites us to think of art as a place of community and enlightenment.
