Ramadan Volunteers in Makkah Support Medical Staff with Sawaed Health Project
In an effort to support medical personnel in Makkah during Ramadan, the General Directorate of Health Affairs has deployed volunteer teams to assist in various healthcare facilities.
These dedicated volunteers are stationed in hospitals, health centers in the central area, the Grand Mosque, and the Haramain train station, providing crucial support to the existing staff.
Their responsibilities include conducting awareness and health education campaigns, as well as offering essential first aid services to train passengers, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
The Sawaed Health Project, initiated by the directorate, kicked off its relief efforts on the first day of Ramadan, delivering first aid and life-saving services to pilgrims and worshippers at the Grand Mosque.
This year, a total of 170 male and female volunteers have been divided into six teams to participate in the project, stationed at various locations surrounding the Grand Mosque.
The health volunteering platform, which is active during the Ramadan and Hajj seasons annually, aims to motivate Saudis to contribute to the community through volunteerism.
The Sawaed Health Project sees the participation of hundreds of volunteers each year, with a new addition this Ramadan being a volunteer translation service. Twelve individuals have been given the opportunity to facilitate communication between foreign patients and Saudi medical teams.
Additionally, the directorate has provided a range of mobile medical services and distributed first aid kits throughout the holy month as part of the Sawaed Health Project.
