Riyadh Emphasizes Importance of Preserving Asir’s Natural Environment for Tourism Development

The acting CEO of the Asir Development Authority, Hashim Al-Dabbagh, highlighted the crucial role of preserving Asir’s natural environment while implementing new tourism projects. He emphasized the importance of developing the tourism and service sectors to enhance the region’s appeal to visitors.

Turning Asir into a Year-Round Tourist Destination

During an open discussion organized by the Abha Literary Club, Al-Dabbagh outlined the authority’s goal of making Asir a year-round tourist destination. He stressed the need to activate seasons and festivals to attract visitors and utilize the region’s natural diversity, from mountains to coasts and deserts, for a unique tourist experience.

Investing in Asir’s Tourism Sector

Al-Dabbagh revealed plans to increase tourism investment in Asir from SR6 billion to around SR9 billion, focusing on projects such as accommodation, tourist farms, and cultural initiatives. The region’s cultural heritage and culinary offerings have also gained global recognition, making Asir a desirable destination for tourists.

Empowering the Youth for Tourism Development

Director General of Tourist Destinations, Hatem Al-Harbi, highlighted the role of the region’s youth in implementing tourism development plans. He emphasized the importance of involving young people in planning and executing events, providing them with job opportunities, and supporting the region’s economic growth. Asir aims to attract over 9 million visitors annually by 2030, with a focus on enhancing infrastructure in high-demand tourist cities and sites.
