Virtual pilgrims experience jaw-dropping sights!

Revolutionizing the Hajj Experience with Virtual Reality

Every year, millions of Muslims embark on a journey to Makkah to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam. The pilgrimage can be physically demanding, with pilgrims walking long distances. Unfortunately, this strenuous experience can lead to injuries or health issues, preventing some from completing the Hajj.

Virtual Healing in Makkah

Last year, SyncVR Medical collaborated with King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah to introduce SalaamVR, a virtual reality application, to injured and hospitalized pilgrims. This innovative project allowed them to virtually experience Makkah, offering a glimpse of the sacred journey they were unable to complete. The success of the initiative has led to its continuation at KAMC in Jeddah this year.

Immersive Hajj Experience

Under the guidance of a nurse, patients using SalaamVR are transported to the road to Makkah. They can explore key Hajj locations such as Muzdalifa, Mina, Mount Arafat, and the Kaaba, witnessing the sacred sites from sunrise to sunset alongside virtual fellow pilgrims.

HIGHLIGHTS

• SyncVR Medical showcased SalaamVR at the 2023 HealthTech Innovation Summit and Expo in Riyadh.

• Patients rated SalaamVR an average of 8.9 for enhancing relaxation and well-being.

Enhancing Medical Care with Virtual Reality

The entire virtual pilgrimage lasts around 10 minutes, after which patients can explore other virtual destinations worldwide. This groundbreaking technology not only provides medical care but also enriches the Hajj experience for pilgrims.

During a pilot program with patients suffering from fatigue, dehydration, infections, or injuries, SalaamVR received positive feedback. Patients expressed a high likelihood of using extended reality for pain and stress management in future medical procedures, with an average score of 8.86/10.

SyncVR is at the forefront of introducing virtual and augmented reality in healthcare, offering educational apps for staff training, surgery simulations, and patient education.

CEO Floris van der Breggen shared, “The openness and innovation mindset in Saudi Arabia have been remarkable. The journey from concept to clinical implementation may be challenging, but the impact of virtual reality in healthcare is undeniable.”

Empowering Patients through Technology

SyncVR Medical’s mission is to enhance social experiences using virtual reality beyond gaming. From supporting cancer patients during chemotherapy to revolutionizing healthcare education, the company is committed to making a meaningful impact in the medical field.

By participating in global health tech events like the HealthTech Innovation Summit and Expo, SyncVR Medical aims to expand its reach and become a leading provider of extended reality healthcare solutions in Europe and beyond.

Van der Breggen concluded, “Virtual reality transcends borders, offering a transformative experience for patients worldwide. Our introduction in the Saudi market is just the beginning of our journey to revolutionize healthcare through immersive technology.”
