Yusra Mardini, the Syrian Olympic swimmer, is set to be the face of the Refugee Olympic Team at the Paris Olympics this week.
In an Instagram post, she rallied support for the team, urging fans to show their love and support for the Refugee Olympic Team.
Yusra Mardini’s incredible journey from Syrian war refugee to Olympic athlete has been captured in the BAFTA-nominated film “The Swimmers.” She and her sister, Sarah, escaped their war-torn home in 2015, swimming for hours to safety in Europe.
Mardini is not only a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador but also runs the Yusra Mardini Foundation, which supports education and sports opportunities for refugees.
